From entertaining around a fire pit on cool fall evenings to maximizing the potential of the new carriage house, this project was far more than a simple garage addition. While the new carriage house has the functionality of modern garage, it also created an upper level bonus room for the client's exercise equipment. In the rear yard, simple features such as a detached pergola, masonry fire pit, hot tub, and decorative concrete transformed an underutilized yard into a charming gathering place. Elements such as the loggia also helps to visually integrate the existing historic character of the home with the new construction thus creating a development that seems to have been there for the last 100 years.
